Revitalized in Oxford
Put to Good Use
On five acres adjacent to Thompson Lake in Oxford, the Caleb Group will transform a former woolen mill into 77 apartments for seniors, including 21 accessible units.
Caleb is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable homes throughout New England. A Genesis partner for more than 10 years, Caleb creates affordable communities that offer residents education and enrichment programs and connections to local services.
Area residents said they welcome putting the dilapidated Robinson Woolen Mill to good use, creating more options to meet diverse housing needs across the community.
Like other reuse projects, removal and cleanup of industrial materials is the first phase. Some parts of the structure will then need to be demolished, while other parts will be enhanced to meet modern building codes while also preserving the building’s historic significance.
“We are excited about bringing new affordable housing to Oxford, and the revitalization of this building. Thank you to Genesis and the people and leadership in Oxford.”
