New Homes in Bath
Doors Open on Centre Street
Marking a major milestone in Bath Housing’s vision to expand housing access, the agency’s new development at 520 Centre Street is welcoming tenants into 18 two-bedroom affordable apartments in a modern, energy-efficient building that’s walkable to downtown Bath, on major bus and shuttle routes, and adjacent to a multi-use path.
The organization’s first new multifamily housing development in 40 years, this new housing shows what’s possible when organizations receive early support. In 2022, Genesis made a loan to help Bath Housing acquire land, catalyzing the entire Centre Street development and helping ensure more housing could follow.
Phase Two, at 540 Centre Street, will bring 24 more apartments to the neighborhood.
And the vision doesn’t stop there! Bath Housing is also leading a transformation along the Congress Avenue Corridor, with plans for more than 200 new affordable homes for residents including older adults and local workers. At the corridor project’s conclusion, Bath Housing will more than double its portfolio, to 375 homes.
“This is a proud moment in Bath Housing’s history, and an example of how we are advancing forward-thinking housing solutions.”
“I slept better the first night here than I’ve slept in a long time, and now I have so much to live for.”
